As Lucknow gears up for grand celebrations on New Year’s Eve, significant changes have been implemented in the city’s traffic plan. Hazratganj and surrounding areas will incur heavy diversions from 2 PM on December 31, till January 1. The authorities have restricted the entry of heavy vehicles across the city until 2 AM, except roadways buses.

In addition, more than 200 breathalysers will be deployed throughout Lucknow, to test drivers for drunken driving. These measures are directed at permitting smooth traffic flow while maintaining safety during revelries.

Key Traffic Diverting Routes

  • Vehicles from Mahanagar, Gomti Nagar, and UPTech crossing will proceed towards Hazratganj via Sikandar Bagh crossing. In case of further diversions, they will be rerouted through Saharaganj and Chiraiyajheel Tiraha.

  • From Saharaganj intersection, vehicles will not be allowed towards Dunlop Intersection/Police Commissioner’s residence, or Alka intersection. Instead, they will be redirected via Sikandar Bagh or Chiraiyajheel intersections.

  • Traffic from Dunlop Tiraha/Police Commissioner’s residence will be diverted away from St. Francis, Bank of India, or Alka Tiraha. These vehicles can proceed via Saharaganj or Sapru Marg.

  • Hazratganj Crossing will see diversions towards Parivartan Chowk and Subhash crossing. Vehicles headed this way will instead be diverted from Sapru Marg to Dunlop crossing, Saharaganj crossing, or Chiraiyajheel Crossing.

  • Charbagh to Parivartan Chowk will be unavailable through Hazratganj crossing, and drivers should reroute through Hussainganj junction towards Odeon Cinema or Kaiserbagh.

  • For vehicles coming from Aliganj or Mahanagar via Parivartan Chowk, the route to Hazratganj through KD Singh Babu Stadium will be blocked. They can divert left from Stadium Tiraha towards Chiraiyajheel Tiraha or Parivartan Chowk.

  • From Lalbagh or Kaipar Road, vehicles toward Valmiki Tiraha will be diverted left via DM Residence and Parivartan Chowk instead of taking the right towards Valmiki Tiraha.

  • Traffic from Naval Kishore Road towards Bank of India intersection will be rerouted via Aayakar Bhavan intersection and St. Lawrence Colony.

  • No traffic will be allowed to proceed towards Mayfair or Alka Tiraha from Lalbagh crossing. Vehicles will be redirected via Capital Tiraha.

Special Parking Arrangements

  • Multilevel Parking Hazratganj: Vehicles arriving from Telibag, Cantt, and Gomti Nagar will be allowed to park here, by turning right from Hazratganj Square entrance. The exit gate will be at Naval Kishore.

  • Underground Parking near Municipal Corporation: Vehicles coming from Aminabad, Kaiserbagh, Charbagh, and Rajajipuram will park here after turning via Capital Tiraha/Lalbagh.

  • Saharaganj Mall Parking: Vehicles going to Saharaganj Mall will park via Sapru Marg or Chiria Jheel.

No Parking / No Stop Zones

  • From Hazratganj Square to Alka Tiraha, Mayfair Tiraha, Lalbagh Square, Halwasiya, Hindi Sansthan Tiraha

  • From Alka Tiraha to Bank of India and Dunlop Tiraha

  • From Sapru Marg Tiraha to Dunlop Tiraha, and from Dunlop Tiraha to Saharaganj Tiraha

  • From Sikanderbagh Square to Chiraiyajheel Tiraha (on Rana Pratap Marg)

  • From Golf Club Square to Lal Batti Square

  • From Lal Batti Square to Lal Bahadur Shastri Tiraha, Sisendi Tiraha, and Royal Hotel Square

  • From Hazratganj Square to Burlington Square

NOTE: In line with traffic management measures for New Year’s Eve, akin to those implemented during international cricket matches and major events, roadside parking will be prohibited near major shopping malls in Lucknow.

City and Roadways Bus Rerouting

  • Roadways buses coming from the metropolis will be diverted via Sankalp Vatika crossing, bypassing Sikandarbagh and Hazratganj crossing.

  • Buses from Ayodhya Road heading towards Kaiserbagh will take a detour via PNT (Balu Adda) Tiraha and Baikunthdham Tiraha.

  • Buses from Kamta will be rerouted from 1090 crossing, avoiding Sikandarbagh and Hazratganj.

  • City buses from Charbagh will be directed towards their destination via KCC Tiraha or Hussainganj Square.
