35 new electric buses will be added to Lucknow’s existing fleet of public transport, in an effort to better handle the load and provide ease in commute to travellers. These buses will ply on new routes and hence boost connectivity throughout the city, from July 7.
Since the goal is to enable more footfall in public transport, the new routes cover hotspots across the city, and the ticket prices are affordable, even on longer circuits. The minimum fare on these bus routes will be ₹10 while the maximum fare will be capped at ₹40.
The City Transport MD, Pallav Bose stated that 10,000 to 12,000 people are expected to take advantage of the new electric buses in Lucknow, every single day. At any rate, preparations to mark out bus stops, build infrastructure, and charging stations for the e-buses are all underway in full swing.
E-bus routes and stops
Parts of the city such as City Transport, Dubagga, Vrindavan Yojana, PGI, areas of Mohanlalganj and Telibagh, will all fall under the routes of electric buses. Mainly the electric buses will run from City Transport, Charbagh, Dubagga and Gomti Nagar areas.

Lucknow Airport via Gomti Nagar and Gomti Nagar extension.
Earlier this week, authorities also planned on an electric bus shuttle service from parts of Lucknow to the Domestic Airport. The target audience for these buses is expected to be students, tourists, and of course, air travelers.
Lucknow is on a fast track to become a quick adopter of EV public transport. In a town like ours, EVs should be the norm, and these new services are a step in the right direction.
