In yet another attempt to uplift the women in society, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday launched a new campaign- ‘Nirbhaya – Ek Pahal’. The latest scheme aims to provide financial independence to around 75,000 women. The initiative will help boost the safety, dignity and employment of women, empowering them to become self-reliant.

Within the scope of the ‘Nirbhya – Ek Pahal’, around 75,000 women in Uttar Pradesh will be linked to the PM Mudra Yojna, for a period of 3 months. Through this duration, these women will be connected with state banks and can avail of loans at cheaper interest rates and enjoy the benefits of the state subsidies.
The whole programme has been designed to promote women entrepreneurs in the state and several other accessory facilities, services and training programmes have been set up to back up the same. A new helpline for women entrepreneurs, training for business development and other skills in self-help groups have been implemented in Uttar Pradesh. Besides, the state has also promised to provide free gas connections to women under the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme.
