Gaurav Singh, a 27-year-old software engineer from Lucknow, has an unexpected side hustle: music. His tryst with music began during his final year of college when he discovered his passion for singing. Not classically trained, Gaurav turned to YouTube as his guru, perfecting his art through countless cover songs over five years. While his day job keeps him occupied with lines of code, his nights are filled with melodies and harmonies.
Today, he proudly owns five original compositions and has become a familiar face in the live music circuit.
From YouTube covers to powerful originals
For Gaurav, music is more than a hobby—it’s a constant in every situation, his true north. Self-taught through YouTube and driven by an unbridled love for music, Gaurav transformed from a casual listener to a confident performer. His musical palette is as diverse as his background – drawing inspiration from legends like KK’s mesmerising singing style, AR Rahman’s genius compositions, and Freddie Mercury’s extraordinary vocal range.
What began as a stage fright-induced performance with closed eyes has now evolved into moments of pure joy. “Seeing people smile and enjoy my music is the most rewarding experience,” he admits. His songwriting draws directly from life experiences, with compositions flowing naturally from his personal narrative.
Balancing his software engineering career with musical aspirations remains his greatest challenge. Yet, his dream remains clear – inspiring people through his tunes and creating music that resonates deeply.

Talking about his performance at the La Flea Affair-Diwali Edition in Lucknow, Gaurav shared how performing at Knocksense events always feels like coming home, thanks to the warmth and support he’s received. Grateful for the opportunities, Gaurav calls these events a fantastic platform that consistently embraces artistes like him with open arms.

Gaurav has some exciting projects in the pipeline, and we can’t wait! His upcoming tracks include Tu Hi Hai Wo, a heartfelt song about self-introspection, and Manzil Dikhe, a power-packed motivational anthem. Both tracks showcase his knack for turning raw emotions into beautiful melodies. With every new composition, he’s reminding us, “when you love what you do, nothing can hold you back!”
