The Paw Movement in Lucknow is feeding the strays on the streets & here’s what you should know

Amidst such challenging times when a nationwide lockdown is in existence, survival is the key focus and if you’re privileged enough, it quickly turns to living your life- indoors for now. So if you’re reading this in the comforts your own home, we believe you’re safe and healthy because you made proper arrangements for it. Stocked up food, have been practising social distancing and have undertaken other necessary precautions to beat this crisis.

But unlike us, the strays on the streets didn’t receive any memo for this prolonged lockdown which has led to severe starvation among them & even deaths of many on the road due to the misbehaviour of the ‘scared’ citizens. So to make this ordeal easier for the four-legged army on the roads, The Paw Movement in Lucknow has been in action ever since the initial phase of the lockdown was announced!

Masked Heroes with a Sanitizer Sidekick

Started by 3 college-goers hailing from the city itself, Priya Chaudhary, Amit Agarwal and Anadi Tiwari, The Paw Movement was curated to feed the poor strays on the streets when the initial phase of this lockdown was announced and also to urge people towards the direction of kindness. Since then, they’ve been regularly feeding stray cats, cows and dogs and are setting an excellent example of compassion.

“We have been feeding the strays since the lockdown commenced. But we were prompted to create The Paw Movement when we saw a disturbing video of a family in Lucknow, mistreating a guy who was trying to feed the stray puppies. In the ugly argument that took place, the residents started spilling water over puppies who were trying to eat & when the guy protested against this behaviour, he too was mistreated and drenched with water! He was further abused and assaulted.

We instantly knew that we have to make people aware about treating strays with warmth because they cannot fend for themselves right now. Their sources of meals have been shut off and they need us now more than ever.”

So to help The Paw Movement to keep up with their brilliant work, you can join their team and even donate to their cause- just DM them on their Instagram page!

A message to all our readers

The Paw Movement has been consistently requesting all the residents to do our parts in feeding the strays at our own capacities and something as simple as putting out a bowl of fresh water near the road can save a life. Also note that pet cats and dogs cannot pass the virus on to humans but they can test positive for low levels of the pathogen if they catch it from their owners. We humbly request to heed to the needs of these innocent strays near you because right now, they are solely dependent on us.

How to donate:

You can transfer the money via UPI on any platform- Google Pay/PhonePe/Paytm on 7800701816,
