As the pandemic ballooned in Lucknow, it brought with itself an ocean of troubles for the city dwellers and food became one of the strongest concerns for those affected by the virus and the ensuing lockdown. Amid the city’s unparalleled struggle, a bunch of buddies have started an organisation called Satkar Charitable Trust, for distributing and delivering free of cost meals. Through meticulous planning and committed efforts, they have served nearly 1,000 meals within a short period of 7 days!
Driven by personal experiences & a selfless spirit of service!
Taking lessons from their personal COVID journeys, the idea of the ‘Meal to Heal’ initiative by this trust, was dished out over friendly phone conversations. Within a week of brainstorming and targeted attempts, the plan got converted into reality, kickstarting operations on 8 May. Presently, the Satkar Charitable Trust has been serving more than 100 people every day and it aspires to increase this count of daily beneficiaries to over one thousand.
As per the team, they follow standardised hygiene practices, making sure that no lag leads to unforeseen circumstances. In addition to this, regular sanitisation of cooking areas and timely testing of employees helps in reducing the possibilities of unchecked infections. While the scheme primarily aims to assure speedy recovery of COVID patients through nutritious meals, it also includes free provisioning of food for people from debilitated sections of the city.
On Saturday, Satkar Charitable Trust conducted a focused drive at King George Medical University and provided lunch packets for over 130 people there. Under this program, a variety of individuals were benefitted including paramedics and relatives of patients. Standing true to its vision, the trust dreams of executing more such schedules in the future so that the essential needs of the people are taken care of through these tough times.

Coming from diverse professional backgrounds, the altruistic buddies have become a testament to strong will and determination. Starting the journey by pooling their personal resources and salaries, they now have the support of leading organisations. While the Bank of India has sponsored their packaging costs, Beekay Group in collaboration with LinkedIn Connect, is helping them amplify their scale of deliveries.
Currently, their services can be procured by residents of Ashiana, LDA Colony, Transport Nagar, Sharda Nagar, South City, Alambagh, Krishna Nagar, Gomti Nagar and Gomti Nagar Extension. Given the success of their efforts in the past 10 days, these samaritans hope to augment their scope of service, assuring the welfare of as many people as possible.

What started as a school-time friendship has now transformed into a compassionate conglomerate.
