In an attempt to put an end to fraud energy practitioners barging into your homes inquiring for information regarding your energy consumption, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) has introduced a few cautionary rules.
The Minister for Urban Development & Energy, A K Sharma, has established that, now, the process of checking energy consumption for the users will be transparent and hassle-free. To limit any kind of tampering, various technologies will be aptly utilised and enable consumers to monitor the entire process.

Not only this, the ministry has also made mandatory the requirement of uploading geo-tagged photos of consumers and their power meters, with the officials who are there for inquiry.
Consumers have the complete right to ask the electricity department employees for their identity cards, ask them questions and give information only when they are fully convinced of their authenticity. Clicking geo-tagged photographs of themselves with the employees and the meter and uploading it on site only safeguards the process.
There would also be a toll free number (1912) available, a portal for public hearing, and consumers can constantly check the updates on their complaints online.
In more than one ways, the UPPCL has attempted to make everything lucid and convenient for users, in an aim to put a stop to electricity bill scams, energy fraud scenarios, and so on. Do follow the aforementioned steps to keep away from all trouble.
