The Aarogya Mela, which was suspended in March this year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, is all set to restart next year, on January 10 as a weekly health fair. The Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister stated that the UP government has directed the health and family welfare department, as well as all state districts to commence the preparations of the Aarogya Mela.
State to launch massive health drive in the Aarogya Mela
As per reports, the Aarogya Mela will be held in Uttar Pradesh as a weekly affair, every Sunday to provide better medical facilities to the people of weaker income group. Starting January 10, next year, this weekly affair will run a massive health campaign under the purview of the state health department. This state body will also launch an awareness campaign along with vaccination drives, medical camps and distribution of cars to the beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
On Tuesday, the CMO took to Twitter to announce that every Sunday, from January 10, 2021, around 4 PM, the Health Mela will be organized at all urban and rural primary health centres of the state. Health workers and volunteers working here would be compensated with a holiday on Saturday, read the tweet.
Coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh
Principal secretary, health and family welfare reportedly commented that though Covid cases are on the decline in the state, the government is not taking any chances to instigate the spread of COVID-19. Testing, tracking and treatment would continue at an aggressive pace he stated, adding that, “The state has achieved another landmark as now above 50 per cent of the sample test are RT-PCR tests.
With the development of the infrastructure facilities, Uttar Pradesh has increased RT-PCR tests. Earlier, the majority of the sample tests were through rapid antigen.” Uttar Pradesh Department is also tracking those individuals who have returned from the UK, fearing the spread of the fast-spreading mutated strain of COVID-19.
