Lucknow, which recently saw a spell of heavy rainfall just a few nights back is once again covered in rain.
Today morning, Lucknow woke up to a murky yet slightly sunny morning after which dark clouds shrouded the sun and thunder clouds approached bringing with them heavy rain in small spells. Non-stop rain combined with hailstorms is set to bring the mercury down.

Earlier this week, Delhi received heavy rains which halted traffic, delayed a few trains and flights to and from the city. The met department officials had announced back then that areas near Delhi would also see rainfall.

Two days back, the rain shifted to Lucknow and it rained for a while after coming to a halt. The city witnessed heavier rains towards late morning and afternoon today. Areas such as Charbagh, Gomti Nagar and Indira Nagar saw heavy rainfall while Hazratganj saw the most amount of rain. Additionally, this also led to a significant decrease in the temperature, dipping from an average of 20 degrees to 17 degrees.

According to weather experts and met department officials the rains occurred due to thunderstorm clouds over Rajasthan paired with chilly winds from the Himalayas. The coming days could see mild rainfall, but not comparable to the rain seen today. The weekend should be relatively sunny and have clear skies with an occasional overcast of a few clouds.
We feel that the rains add to the spirit of winter and give us a chance to sit out in our balconies and read a nice book over a cup of hot chocolate. It could also lead to a decrease in the AQI of the city, allowing citizens to breathe in cleaner air.
