Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh had been recording highest number of coronavirus cases since July 11 with a surge in the testing capacities. However, on July 29, the city reported about 262 fresh cases, Lucknow’s total caseload stands at 7129 with about 3914 active Coronavirus cases.
Lucknow Under Treatment
With a higher Covid testing capacity in the city and state alike, the scale of identifying new cases have also broadened. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to conduct 1 lakh tests a day and this is helping in detecting Coronavirus infections on a much larger scale. In the last two weeks, Capital Lucknow has reported about 3940 fresh coronavirus cases, which is about 57% of the total cases that have been reported in the city since the outbreak of the infection on April 26.
A surge of over 1300 cases in the city hospitals in just 7 days raised concerns among the administration and citizens alike. Recording 544 recoveries with 22 deaths due to virus in a single week, the administration’s various procedures and protocols helped reduce the ferocity of the virus.
City and state administrations set up new procedures, protocols and systems in Lucknow to control this rapid increment in the number of cases in the city. From establishment of control and command centres, to setting up of Covid help desks in various institutions, throughout the district was carried out. More areas were listed as containment zones and movement within these were monitored and restricted, discharge policies were altered, last rite protocols were standardised and systematised and new covid care facilities were introduced. To city’s relief, these measures yielded positive results.
Around 2054 fresh cases were reported in Lucknow over the last week. While the number of active cases in the city hospitals and treatment centres were brought down to 670, the competence and efforts of the medical and health staff resulted in a whooping 1995 recoveries, more than thrice of the previous week’s recoveries. A dip in the number of fatalities due to infection from 22 to 21 also bought marginal respite.

With the medical and treatment facilities on an upgrade, the number of recoveries have gone up and fatalities have been reduced. Both District and State Administration are working in tandem to lower the ferocity of the coronavirus in the city of Lucknow. As the medical, municipal and administration officials work relentlessly to curb the rate of growth and transmission in the city, Lucknowites are requested to join forces with them and create one strong unit to defeat this global pandemic.
