HŌM by Pratik Gaba turns the language of fire into Bandra’s bold new culinary expression

Bandra never ceases to surprise. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the rooftops, the ramen bars, the craft cocktails, it presents something with an entirely different rhythm. Enter HŌM, a new restaurant that quite literally plays with fire, redefining how Mumbai dines and drinks.

A name born of fire

Derived from the Sanskrit word Homa, meaning sacred fire, HŌM celebrates flame as a cooking philosophy. Every flicker of light, every curl of smoke, is part of ritual, an elaborate performance. At its heart is a theatrical open kitchen that seats eight. Diners become part of the script, front row to a blazing act that unites food, fire, and community.

The pulse of the place

Spread across 2,000 square feet, HŌM is the brainchild of first-time restaurateur Pratik Gaba, who brings with him years of nightlife and event experience. The result is an intimate 42-seater space that feels both primal and polished. Designed by Parzan Daruwalla and Natasha Chawla of Studio 6158 (behind Boojee Cafe and Mokai), the interiors lean into bold lines, rich textures, and a visual warmth that mirrors the fire at its centre.

Fire on the plate!

Chef Saurabh Udinia, known for his inventive approach to Indian flavours, leads the kitchen at HŌM. Nearly 80% of the menu touches the grill, the charcoal, or the tandoor.

The King Prawn, grilled over open fire and dressed with curry leaf, black pepper, garlic and a dusting of gunpowder chilli, perfectly captures the spirit of the menu. Moreover, there’s Lal Maas with Khichdi, Charred Green Pumpkin, Bharwan Kashmiri Morels, and a Saffron Dessert layered with carrot fudge, espuma and milk skin.

At the bar, Pankaj Balachandran has crafted an imaginative cocktail menu that pairs right with everything. Drinks such as Ashes to Oolong, Watermelon Sugar, Why?, and Split Decision tease the palate with unexpected balance and a hint of rebellion.

Knock Knock

HŌM is a theatre. It’s rhythm. It’s the sound of fire and laughter meeting across a table. Every element feeds into the same pulse. In a neighbourhood that thrives on novelty, HŌM adds another name to Bandra’s dining scene. Follow HŌM on Instagram for more updates.
