After 8 long years, Napoli by Shatranj has breathed new life into Mumbai’s culinary landscape, once again! This Italian restaurant in Bandra, attracts cocktail enthusiasts, wine experts, and those who cherish exquisite dining experiences. With its rich history, Napoli holds a significant position in the city’s past, having been frequented by celebrities and influential personalities.
Now, as this iconic brand makes a grand return, it offers a chance to reminisce cherished past while also creating delightful new memories.
A blend of classic and contemporary dishes
The ‘new’ menu has been carefully selected by consultant Chef Sanjay Kotian, and it features a combination of classic and contemporary dishes – honouring the staples that made Napoli a household name.
The chef states that the menu designed by him takes into account the global food trends and incorporates his personal interpretation, of what he believes the city should enjoy. Instead of heavy creams, the chef uses emulsions, complex sauces are replaced with simpler preparations and to enhance the flavours in certain dishes, activated charcoal is used as well.
A grand return
In an interview, Ashok Datwani, the Director of Napoli by Shatranj, expressed his gratitude and excitement, pertaining to bringing back Napoli to Mumbai! He asserts that the eatery is his contribution to the city’s vibrant culinary scene.
He also stated that this revival isn’t just a nostalgic homage to the past – it’s a smooth blend of tradition and modernity. Further, Datwani mentioned that it is a proud moment for the team to reopen and bring back the love of hospitality, Italian flavours and the art of Italian cooking to the city.
