Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) saw a 4% year-on-year increase in total passenger traffic, reaching over 4.42 million in October 2024. This surge was largely driven by the high travel demand during the festive season, which saw the confluence of major celebrations like Dussehra, Dhanteras, and Diwali.
The private airport operator, Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), reported that the airport facilitated travel for 3.16 million domestic and 1.25 million international passengers in October. This marked a significant rise compared to the 4.25 million passengers handled in the same period last year.
Notably, October 26, the last Saturday before Diwali, recorded the highest number of air traffic movements, with 939 flights in a single day, making it the busiest day of the month. MIAL also observed a remarkable increase in total air traffic movements, with 19,848 domestic and 7,222 international flights during the month.
