In a bid to enhance commuter experience, Western Railway (WR) has rolled out new Panorama Digital Displays on Mumbai’s local trains. Initially installed on a pilot basis, eight such displays have been positioned, four on each side above the motor coach. These digital displays, which provide vital journey details, aim to offer clear and immediate identification of train destinations.

Vineet Abhishek, WR’s Chief Public Relations Officer, stated that the displays will show destinations in English, Hindi, and Marathi, toggling every three seconds. They also indicate whether the train is fast or slow and its car count, making the commute more convenient and informed.
Protected with toughened glass and featuring optimal brightness and viewing angles, these full HD TFT (Thin Film Transistor) displays are designed for easy readability from up to five meters away. Encouraged by positive passenger feedback, WR plans to extend this feature to more trains soon, with an initial investment of ₹14 lakh. This enhancement is part of WR’s commitment to improving the travel experience for the 30 lakh daily commuters on its network.
