Special Fare Train Service introduced by Western Railway
Western Railway has introduced a weekly superfast train between Bandra Terminus and Subedarganj Station (Prayagraj) to cater to passenger demand. Train no. 04126 departs Bandra Terminus every Tuesday at 11:00 hrs, arriving at Subedarganj at 17:00 hrs the next day, running from February 27 to March 26, 2024. Similarly, train no. 01425 departs Subedarganj every Monday at 5:20 hrs, reaching Bandra Terminus at 8:30 hrs the next day, operating until March 25, 2024. The train offers first AC, third AC, sleeper class, and general second class coaches.
10% water cut in Bandra and Khar (West) from today until March 11
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated a 10% water cut in select areas of the H/West ward starting from today to March 11. This measure, affecting neighbourhoods such as Ghazdarband, Dandapada, and Khar West, aims to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation work at Pali Hill reservoir. BMC advises residents to conserve water during this period.
BMC initiates Kandivali-Goregaon East Connectivity Project
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started phase one of the Kandivali Lokhandwala to Goregaon East project, widening a 500-meter road in Malad East. The 2.1-kilometer road connects Kandivali Lokhandwala to Goregaon East’s Western Express Highway, vital for eastern suburb connectivity. It involves bridges, and 120-feet wide concrete roads, impacting 1376 structures. The road offers Kandivali residents an alternate route to Goregaon East.
New BITS Pilani Campus in Kalyan
Birla Group has inaugurated a new BITS Pilani campus in Kalyan, Mumbai, costing ₹1,600 crore and spanning 60 acres. It accommodates 5,000 students and expands beyond engineering to include law, management, and design. The design school began recently, while law and management schools operated temporarily in Powai since last year. The institute boasts 6,400 alumni as startup founders, with 13 unicorns and 2 decacorns emerging from them.
City records lowest February night temperature since 2022
Mumbai experienced its lowest February night temperature since 2022, with IMD’s Santacruz observatory recording 15°C, four degrees below normal. In 2022, the lowest was 14.8°C. Officials anticipate a gradual rise in temperature in the upcoming week after a consistent dip. The drop is attributed to northerly winds from north India, causing cooler weather.
