Forecasting very heavy to extreme rainfall at isolated places in Mumbai, the city continues to grapple with the troubles of water logging and flooding. As per the IMD, an Orange alert was issued for Mumbai on Monday, which is expected to stay in place till today. Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for Kolhapur, Palghar, Nashik, Pune, and Ratnagiri.

Maximum relative humidity touches 95% mark

With the relative humidity hovering between 89% to 95% in Mumbai, the minimum and maximum temperatures continue to slide between 24 to 27˚C. As per IMD Mumbai’s 24 hr report, moderate to heavy rainfall can be expected in the city and suburbs, with the possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places and occasional gusty winds in low-lying coastal areas.

Moreover, increase in precipitation has led to the disruption of local trains on the Central Railway and Western Railway routes. The suburban services on the Harbour Line are reported to be running slow and several BEST bus routes were diverted to avoid traffic snarls due to heavy rains.
