The Santacruz observatory recorded this morning’s low, which was notably 2.6°C below the seasonal average.
This sharp contrast has left Mumbaikars experiencing the city’s weather at two extremes, pleasantly cool nights paired with unusually hot days.
18-degree temperature swing in a day
The city saw temperatures soar to a blistering 36.8°C during the day, making Thursday Mumbai’s hottest November day since 2021, with a striking 18-degree swing from the night’s cool 19°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributes this unusual pattern to shifting wind dynamics, as easterly winds and a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea disrupt typical conditions. Santacruz Observatory recorded a morning low of 19°C, 2.6°C below normal, while Colaba registered a minimum of 24.4°C, slightly above the seasonal average.
The IMD projects that daytime highs will hover around 34-35°C and nights will settle between 24-25°C until the next expected dip after November 20. For now, Mumbaikars should expect more of this warm November spell, marked by notable daytime heat.
