In a historic display of batting prowess, 14-year-old Ira Jadhav from Mumbai shattered multiple records with an extraordinary unbeaten knock of 346 runs in the BCCI Women’s Under-19 One-Day tournament. Playing at the Alur Cricket Stadium near Bengaluru, Ira became the first-ever batter to score a triple century in the tournament’s history.
Her scintillating innings powered Mumbai to a monumental 563/3 in 50 overs, marking the highest team score in the tournament’s history. Her remarkable performance was complemented by captain Hurley Gala’s century, as the duo shared a 274-run partnership. Meghalaya’s response faltered as they were skittled out for just 19 runs, handing Mumbai a colossal 544-run victory.
Jadhav, a Sharadashram Vidyamandir student, follows in the footsteps of cricketing greats like Sachin Tendulkar. Despite going unsold in the WPL auction, her stellar performance cements her place as a rising star in Indian cricket. Former India captain Diana Edulji lauded her as a future national team prospect.
