With Mumbai’s Bengali community gearing up for Poila Boishakh on April 15, the city is all set to embrace the soul of the east. And what better way to mark the Bengali New Year than with a feast that tastes like home. So here are 7 Bengali restaurants in Mumbai that are serving nostalgic bites and festive cheer.

Via Calcutta

Folks can’t stop raving about Via Calcutta’s aloo tikki, puchka and chaat papdi and after one bite, it all makes sense. So if you too are looking for a cracking way to kick start Pôhela Boishakh, you know exactly where to head.

When: 4:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Where: 7, Gagangiri Apartments, Pali Hill, Khar West

Jamai Shoshthi

This Poila Boishakh, we are swooning over Jamai Shoshthi‘s Shorshey Rohu and Chingri Malai Curry. Pure joy on a plate! Ready your appetite and book your table already.

When: 11:30 am – 11:30 pm

Where: Bandra and Andheri West

Peetuk

Peetuk dishes out Calcutta’s street eats like chops, rolls, and that comforting Bengali biryani with mutton, a giant potato (of course!), and boiled egg. With outlets across Mumbai, the top picks are tucked away in Bengali-heavy ‘hoods like Andheri West.

When: 11:30 am – 4 pm | 6 pm – 11:30 pm

Where: Zorastrian Compound, Oshiwara, Andheri West

Oh! Calcutta

Oh! Calcutta is your breezy Bengali escape where Kolkata’s homely hits meet timeless Indian classics. The Rogan Josh lamb is a hug in a bowl, and the Chingri Malai Curry? An April 15 celebration all on its own.

When: 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm | 7 pm – 11 pm

Where: Veera Desai Industrial Estate, Andheri West

Aahare Kolkata

Aahare Kolkata is serving proper Bengali New Year feast. Think Kolkata Dum Biryani, Premium Bengali Thali, and Mixed Bhaja Thali. Every bite is a nostalgic trip back home.

When: 11 am – 11 pm

Where: 506, Comet Building, Patkar Blocks, Bandra West

Ohh! Bangla

Ringing in the Bengali New Year with a feast at Oh! Bangla is a no-brainer. The menu is filled with delicacies like fiery Kosha Mangsho, Mishti Doi, and much more.

Sweet Bengal

No Bengali New Year is complete without a sugar rush. So make a beeline for Sweek Bengal in Mumbai. From roshogullas to sondesh, it’s a mithai lover’s dream. Grab a box for your favourite bondhu and sweeten the celebrations.

When: 9 am – 9 pm
