If you’re in dire need of a short break or perhaps, its the monsoons and your heart is craving a panoramic hillside respite – we got you! Either way, read on to know about this ideal getaway spot from Mumbai that can usher in peace and calm your way!

Located at an approx distance of 488 kms (or 9.2 hours) from Mumbai, Amboli is known for its serenity, lush greenery and charming sights. The place makes for a pleasant vacay spot during the monsoons, as one of the major attractions here, the Amboli Waterfalls, remains in its prime with gushing rainwater.

What to do, how to reach Amboli & more!

A quaint village that lies in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, Amboli is situated at a height of 700 metres above sea level. So, here is where you can escape the city chaos and opt for an enchanting escape. How, you ask?

Well, for the travel part, you may take the day (or overnight) train or bus from Mumbai to Sawantwadi, followed by a vehicle to cover the remnant 31 kms to Amboli.

Coming to the many attractions, you can visit the historic fort of Madhav Gad and the Hiranya Keshi Temple here, besides scenic points like the Shirgaonkar Point. Amboli has quite in store to keep visitors occupied during the weekend!

A much-needed monsoon escape!

Apart from that, if you’re an avid trekker, the Durg Dhakoba Trek from Amboli village awaits you for a thrilling experience. Adorned by a wide and rejuvenating green cover, the trek is sure to render you the self-care and me-time you’d need.

Moreover, you must head to enjoy the tranquillity of Nangarta Falls, located some 10kms from Amboli Village. The Amboli Forest, often regarded as the Cherrapunji of Maharashtra, engulfs from nocturnal creatures to amphibians and lots of potential for wildlife photography.

So, people, here’s a smart way to beat the heat and stress! Head to the rain-soaked hillside, a gem of Western Ghats — Amboli. Explore the rich flora and fauna, cascading waterfalls, thick forests and offbeat attractions (traveller edition) in these misty hills.
