A paradise for book lovers and literature enthusiasts, the biggest book fair of the city is back after three years. Yes, the Ahmedabad National Book Fair is back with its 9th edition at GMDC ground. With more than 140 stalls and 65 publishers, there are vast collections of books in Gujarati, English, Hindi, and many other languages.
The fair is on now and will continue until the 12th of Jan. But it’s more than just a book fair. AMC has planned a number of activities, events, and seminars to engage and interest the visitors. To discover what all these are, read on!
Ready for a book shopping spree?!
This time, a total of 65 publishers, including the National Book Trust, Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, and Gujarat Sahitya Parishad, will participate in the book fair, where 140 book stalls will be installed. A selfie booth will also be set up for people attending the book fair. The timing of the book fair will be from 12 noon to 10 pm. Entry and parking are free for visitors.
The book fair has 51 publishers from Gujarat, while the remaining 14 are from Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu.
Know about events and film festival
Three kinds of events are being held. From 12 to 3 PM, Gyan Ganga, a series of workshops on literary creation, drama writing, story writing, and film script writing, will be conducted by experts and professionals every day. From 7 to 10 PM, Triveni, a musical and poetic extravaganza featuring folk literature, vocal performances, ghazal, poet’s conference, mushaira, Gujarati folk songs/bhajans, and more will be held.
Visitors will get to interact with some of the renowned creators of Gujarati literature and learn about their works, journeys, and achievements in Gyan Ganga – Creator Dialogue from 4 to 6 PM.
For the young audience, there is a special Children’s Film Festival showcasing award-winning films from India and abroad, every day from Saturday to Sunday, 12:00 to 2:00, and Monday to Friday, 2:30 to 5:00.
