From Diwali to Onam, Ramadan to Christmas, Mumbai celebrates it all and it is currently twirling in the festive spirits of Navratri. Further, when we talk about Navratri, two things that come to our minds are the grandeur of Mumbai’s Durga Puja pandals and mouth-watering food.

So, to relish this festive season, the ‘Bengali way’, you should head to Via Calcutta! Seated comfortably along the Carter Road Khau Galli stretch, this eatery dishes out authentic Kolkata-style street food.

Let’s chaat about it!

Often touted as one of the best chaat places in and around Khar, Via Calcutta is a mad mix of joy and culture. And the best part? This humble eatery sources most of its main ingredients from Kolkata, which helps maintain the authenticity of all the items served in Mumbai.

For us though, at the top of the list here, has to be Calcutta Phuchka (₹110), filled with boiled potatoes that have been infused with dhania, nimbu, tamarind and Via Calcutta’s love! Additionally, topped with flavourful spices, pomegranate, chutneys, and curd, VC’s Dahi Papdi Chaat (₹135) is also must-try.

And well, if you wish to soak in the festive spirit, in full gusto, don’t forget to try the flavoursome Ghoogni Chaat (₹125). This chaat is made of boiled dried yellow peas, paired with chatpate masale and can be washed down with a serving of masala chai.

Knock Knock

We know people who kept raving about Via Calcutta’s aloo tikki, puchka and chaat papdi for days. And honestly, after trying the delights here, we know why and we stand by them! So if you’re in and around Carter Road, come over here to enjoy Bengali street food, like never before.

Also, Via Calcutta has a delivery-only outlet in Powai, with a new one coming up in Breach Candy. Follow its Instagram handle for more updates.

When: 04:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Where: i) Shop No. 7, Gagangiri Apartments, Sangeet Samrat Naushad Ali Marg Union Park, Carter Road, Pali Hill, Khar West

ii) Shop 16, Daffodil Building, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai Lake, Powai

iii) Shop No. 40/41, Premsons Building, Bhulabhai Desai Marg, Breach Candy, Cumballa Hill [November 18 onwards]
