As per an announcement by the District Collector on July 25, the sale of alcohol after 10 PM, has now been banned in Goa till August 12. The ban will be applicable in the jurisdiction of the 186 panchayats, that’ll undergo polling on August 10.
Ban to stay in place till August 12
Goa comprises of 191 panchayats, out of which, 186 will undergo polling on August 10. The new order only applies to the panchayat constituencies where voting will be conducted in August.
As per the reports, the bars, clubs and restaurants serving alcohol in these areas will be allowed to remain open post 10 pm but will be prohibited to serve alcohol.
The order will not apply to establishments which are required by law to be closed before 10 PM.
The order is not applicable to panchayats at Alorna, Casarvarnem and Chandel-Hassapur in Pernem taluka, Harvalem panchayat in Bicholim taluka and Taleigao village panchayat in Tiswadi taluka.
Reportedly, the order will not be applicable in municipal areas of North Goa and South Goa districts and the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP).
