The 7th season of India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW), which is set to begin on the 14th of August, will be going virtual this year. This 3-day online event is being hailed as the ‘Festival of Festivals’ and it will be home to up to 15 festivals stemming from multiple backgrounds. The primary aim of this fest is to raise funds for artistes involved in the entertainment community, who have been deeply affected by the pandemic. You can also expect over 23 hours of live content.
A homage to Wendell Rodricks
This show will be paying a tribute to late fashion designer Wendell Rodricks, who passed away this year in February, due to prolonged health issues. A few of Wendell’s last pieces and his resort collection will be displayed as a part of this digital event. The IBFW-Resort Edition 2020 will also showcase new collections of designers Ken Ferns and Nidhi Munim.
Ferns’ is scheduled to bring out his collection ‘The Fernweh Extension’ which has drawn inspirations from various tribes around the world while designer Nidhi Munim’s collection will speak of comfort clothing layered with sustainability.
IBFW’s founder was quoted saying, “It is a huge challenge to move from such a grand and successful on-ground format to a virtual one as the content needs to be super engaging and exciting for the audience. But this will only help raise the bar. We’re excited to have many new audiences in this interesting format!”
