Folks! That time of the year is upon us when the streets light up with the festive buzz and people across the country come together to celebrate in their special ways. Diwali is just around the corner and the country is all set to celebrate the most-awaited festival in India.

But in recent years, the appeal of the festival of lights has slightly dampened by concerns about pollution. This is why it has become a good idea to adopt eco-friendly ways to celebrate the festival and make sure it remains a ‘Happy Diwali’ for our planet, as well!

We’re here with some tips to help you have the same levels of fun while causing no damage to the environment!

Shop exclusively for ‘handmade diyas’

Diyas are synonymous with Diwali across all Indian households, since time immemorial. But the color-coated earthen lamps that are available in the market today have chemicals all over them. So, your first step towards an eco-friendly Diwali should be ditching chemical-based diyas for beautiful handmade ones.

And there are lots of options available in the market for these organic diyas. Go pick your favorite ones now!

Say NO to Sweets with Synthetic Ingredients

Most foodies love Diwali and why not? Indian households are filled with boxes upon boxes of sweets during the festival. But a huge chunk of Diwali sweets are made up of synthetic ingredients, too. This Diwali, how about making your own sweets at home?

There’s a multitude of Diwali recipes available online, as well. And guess what? Making your sweets at home will also allow you to spend some fun time with the family!

Have a blast with green crackers!

Not bursting crackers is the only way to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali…. Fortunately, that’s not the case! As Diwali approaches, markets gradually fill with various eco-friendly crackers. In fact, you can now buy crackers that eventually grow into a plant.

So, when you go cracker shopping for Diwali 2023, just remember to buy the ‘good kind’ that brings no harm to the environment.

Only natural colors for your Rangoli

A well-designed rangoli can go a long way in welcoming prosperity and happiness into your homes this Diwali. But, remember to use only natural colours for your rangoli to ensure minimum damage to the environment.

Apart from organic colours, you can also use rice flour, rose petals and similar stuff you can easily find at home. After all, rangoli is all about creativity. Use what’s natural and makes your design stand out!

Go Green with Gifting

Last but not least, how about giving a creative touch to your Diwali gifting? Instead of buying expensive gifts wrapped in paper made from cutting down trees, why not opt for handmade gifts and wrapping them in newspaper?

Let the creative juices flow and make a special and personalised gift for your loved ones and show them how much they mean to you!

Knock Knock

Folks, we hope you’re ready for a gala time this festival of lights. Remember to bookmark these tips to make this Diwali ‘happy’ for you, your surroundings, and the planet we call home.

Wishing you a very Happy Diwali!
