Maharashtra government mandates CCTV installation in all schools
In response to the Badlapur incident, the Maharashtra government has issued a directive for all schools in the state to install CCTV cameras and complaint boxes within a month. This move is intended to enhance the safety and security of students, teachers, and staff.
Failure to comply with this order may result in severe penalties, including the potential revocation of the school’s operating permission, according to School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar.
Supreme Court to form a committee to resolve farmer issues
On Thursday, the Supreme Court said that it would establish a multi-member committee aimed at addressing farmers’ concerns regarding the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other related issues. Justices Surya Kant, Dipankar Datta, and Ujjal Bhuyan, who are overseeing the case, scheduled the next hearing for September 2.
They have instructed the Punjab and Haryana governments to provide the committee with a list of key issues affecting farmers. In response to the court’s August 12 directive, the Punjab government reported that a meeting with protesting farmers resulted in an agreement to partially reopen a previously blocked highway.
