A fresh surge of 15 new dengue cases was reported in Indore on Tuesday, pushing the cumulative tally to 415 infections this season. As per reports, around 8 men and 7 women tested positive for the vector-borne disease in the last 24 hours here, even as children nurse the highest share of the infections clocked in until now. Data records reveal that around 87 cases of the season total have been reported among children. This suggests that every fifth dengue infection in Indore plagues a child below 15 years of age.
Surge in cases since September due to monsoons

Although the health department started witnessing a dengue rise in August, a rampant ascend in the infection count was reported only in September. Around 72.3% of the total dengue cases in Indore were logged in during just this month. In figures, this accounts for about 300 registered dengue cases.
It has been estimated that the larvae-borne disease increases during monsoons due to accumulated water in potholes in several low-lying areas. As such, incidents of waterlogging through the rainy September season has added to the dengue spread here.
New cases recorded were from the areas of Telephone Nagar, Pardeshipura, Shyam Nagar, Chhota Bangada, Maruti Nagar, Devnagar, Tilak Nagar, Sai Nagar, Nanda Nagar, Gokul Nagar and Arihant Nagar. Regular Sanitation checks, larvae destruction and public awareness are essential to cage the dengue disease in all affected areas, read reports.
