Demo metro coaches for Indore Metro to arrive from Gujarat this April

The trial run is expected to continue till September.

Indore Metro is a still under construction mass rapid transit system being built to serve Indore residents. By the end of April, citizens will see demo metro coaches arriving in the city for the trial run. As per officials, the trial run is expected to continue till September.

As per Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Limited (MPMRCL), Indore Metro’s Priority Corridor will be completed and opened for people by August 2024

Work to continue for 3 to 4 months before trail run

Given the September deadline for trial, authorities have increased the workforce and also started night shift to meet deadlines. After September, operational run of the train along the 6 kms long route between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor(S3) called 'super priority corridor' will commence.

As far as specifications are concerned, the metro will have three to four coaches catering to 350 to 400 passengers. The train is expected to ply at a speed of 80 kilometres per hour.

Special storage and maintenance unit

A special depot for storage and maintenance of train coaches is being assembled in Gandhinagar. Reportedly, this will also be the only station along the corridor with three tracks, one to arrive at the depot and two for regular passing of metro trains. The first batch of trains will be mounted on the tracks here.

At Gandhi Nagar which is a key station, contractor companies have been asked to expedite the work.
