Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) will be introducing 4 new UG courses to the University Teaching Department (UTD) of the School of Social Sciences. These undergrad courses will be Public Administration, History, Geography and Philosophy. Students will be able to enrol for these courses from the academic year 2022-23. According to officials, these courses will be in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) and will have a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

These courses were suggested by the Executive Council (EC) and suggestions were incorporated by the varsity. Currently, the curriculum for these courses is being readied. The decision of including these courses in the Common Entrance Test (CET) is yet to be made.
The School of Social Sciences has as many as 6 Post Graduate courses, a couple of Under Graduation courses, and 7 certificate and diploma courses. The new UG courses will add to the relatively lesser UG courses being run by the school already. The UTD of the School of Social Sciences has been operating out of the School of Commerce building.

This is to change soon enough since the foundation stone for a new building has already been laid. Varsity expects to begin the new programmes in the new building only. As per the officials, the new academic year is likely to begin in October or November. By the time the academic year starts, construction work for the new building will be completed.
What is a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)?
The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) provides an opportunity for the students to choose courses from the prescribed courses comprising core, elective/minor or skill-based courses. These courses can be evaluated following the grading system, which is considered to be better than the conventional marks system.
