Indore colleges are set to resume classes for all students from Wednesday, for the first time since the coronavirus induced lockdown last year. Though classes had resumed for final year undergraduate and last semester postgraduate students on January 10, with all students returning to colleges now, the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Vishwavidyala (DAVV) has instructed colleges to establish provision to prevent ragging. Consequently, the university has directed all 265 colleges, under its purview, to set up anti-ragging committees, within 10 days of resumption, by January 31.

The Devi Ahilyabai Holkar University in Indore has traced challenges in preventive ragging in the present circumstance of the pandemic. It has directed all college managements to constitute independent anti-ragging cells for the benefit of students. As classes are set to resume for all batches, the colleges, through these anti-ragging committees have to prohibit all such derogatory activities.
The University has also advised providing counselling to students to further this purpose. Earlier also, the varsity had written a letter to colleges in October 2020 for constituting similar bodies. In view of its incompletion until now, the Student Welfare Association has insisted again on making anti-ragging cells in each college.
The President of the Student Welfare Association has stated that it is imperative to set up anti colleges now as both, senior and junior students will attend colleges starting tomorrow. As per the university directive, all colleges have to give information about the committee on their website and notice board. Committee members will also have to make their mobile numbers and contact information public knowledge of students.
