Indore is one of the most rapidly evolving cities in India and it has turned out to be one of the biggest industrial hubs too. Hence, the approval of the metro project in Indore and Bhopal by the Union cabinet had come as a big relief to the daily commuters. Now, clear instructions have been issued by the officials to expedite the metro project in Indore and in this context, the Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Co. Ltd. has also commenced its preparations for the metro train.

Indore Metro project to require electricity approximately worth 50 crores, annually

The first phase of the metro has been estimated to consume electricity equivalent to 10 thousand households in the city and as soon as these metro rails will hit the tracks, the metro project will become the heaviest electricity consumer in the Indore. It is also being said that this metro project will require electricity approximately worth 50 crores, annually. As per the reports of the power company, even if the metro travels only on the 7-8 km long route in the initial phase, the cost of the electricity consumption will be pegged at 4-5 crores, per month.

Earlier, MP’s Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, Sanjay Dubey, had reached Indore to inspect the progress of power supply related activities for the metro project. For the first phase of the metro project, the high-tension line running between Sukhaliya to Vijay Nagar is being removed. Along with it, the MPPKVVCL body has also started working on the power supply plan for this upcoming project.

According to the power company, a line of 25 KV to 35 KV will be required for the metro train and a new line will be fixed on the entire stretch of the metro. At present, the transmission company’s 132 KV high-tension line is passing through the initial route of the metro but it will be shifted to a 41-m high unipole. This line of 132 KV will add a new 35 KV line to the project. Reportedly, the metro line will be at a height of 17 to 18 meters.

Citizens to be compensated for private land acquisition by the Govt.

For the execution of the Bhopal-Indore metro project, the government will also look into private land acquisition, under the Metro Act 1978. As per the new regulations pertaining to the residential and commercial land acquisition, the affected citizens will be granted a sum in line with the market rates and additional financial assistance of minimum one lakh rupees will also be allocated. Purportedly, this provision will be extended to roadside shops and handcarts but with revisions in the aid structure. Small-scale shops, gumti walas and handcart labourers will be allotted ₹25,000, ₹10,000 and ₹15,000, respectively.
