Keeping in sight the situation of surging cases in the city, earlier the Trader Unions of Indore had induced a self-formulated weekend market lockdown till the 15th of October. Now, the city traders have withdrawn from this voluntary decision and markets are set to go back to their usual pace. Henceforth, on Saturdays, the markets in Indore will be fully functional and on Sundays, not all markets will remain shut.

On the 2nd of October, business establishments and market officials in the city, had issued a notice to the member traders about concluding the self-induced shutdown. Traders have also mentioned that almost every activity has gone back to its previous normalcy so there is no logical reasoning behind keeping the shops closed.
In a meeting with the district collector of Indore last month, traders had pitched in their verdict of voluntarily closing their shops on Saturday-Sunday. The purpose behind the move was to arrest the spread of the contagious COVID-19, nevertheless, many traders had already pulled out of this discretionary settlement in the initial time period.
1,32,107 confirmed cases in Madhya Pradesh
Till date, Madhya Pradesh has reported 1,32,107 confirmed covid cases out of which, Indore has amounted for 24,970 patients. The state has observed 2,372 fatalities as of now and Indore’s corona deaths’ tally is marked at 578. 1,09,611 patients have recovered in MP, wherein 19,825 victims have gone back home in good health. Number of active cases in the state, stands at 20,124 as of now.
