Jaipur shares the largest burden of active cases in the state with 51,210 current COVID patients.
After marginal dips were witnessed in Jaipur's COVID tallies over the past few days, the fresh case count sprung up again on Thursday with 4,099 new detections. Accelerated by this, the count of active patients has reached an alarming figure of 51,210. While recoveries have risen in the past week oscillating around the 3K mark, new infections continue to topple them, thereby expanding the crisis in the state capital.
Dipping testing rate can lead to detrimental effects on the city
Reportedly, new COVID cases show no signs of plummeting despite a downfall in the testing figures. While tests have reduced significantly, the maintained count of new detections has caused an alarming spike in the positivity rate. Reports state that the testing trend has been consistently below 1 lakh in the past two weeks and more than 90,000 tests were conducted just on three days. With a high number of asymptomatic patients and slow contact tracing procedures, the reduced testing ratios can hamper an effective curtailment of contamination.
If the uncontrolled chain of infections has to be broken, the need for streamlined and amplified interventions can't be ignored. More than 200 lives have been lost to the fatal contagion and it is a long time ahead before the stability stands restored.
Active cases constitute almost 25% of all COVID cases in Rajasthan
Currently, Rajasthan ranks at the 4th spot in the index of states with the highest number of COVID cases. While a cumulative count of 8,21,525 individuals have been affected by the COVID virus in the state so far, 2,11,889 of these are active cases. Amongst all the cities of the state, Jaipur shares the largest burden with more than 50 thousand presently infected people. Though the recovery rate is high in the state, the active tallies can only be clamped if the infection rate is brought down.
