Micro-containment zones to double in Jaipur as district adopts strict lockdown action plan

In a high-level COVID review meeting on Saturday, the Jaipur administration has finalised an upgraded action plan to curb the rate of infection in the Pink City. An extension of the existing restrictions, this new strategy aims to double the number of micro-containment zones in the district. Strictness too, will be raised here and all public movement will be shut completely. Reportedly, strong action will be taken against those who roam about needlessly.

New curbs and regulations in Jaipur

As yet, there are about 250 micro-containment zones in Jaipur and the number is set to scale two-folds in view of the constant 30% positivity rate here. Any area that reports over 4 positive cases will now be sealed as a containment zone and all movement will be stopped to prevent further spread. Besides Jaipur city, similar restrictions will also be implemented in rural parts of the region and adjoining suburbs.

The Chief Minister has directed Health Minister, District Collector and other dignified officials to chart a special responsive action plan for Jaipur to control the COVID surge here. Emphasis has been laid on a 'mega lockdown' and imposition of stringent curbs, from Sunday, to dampen the rate of spread and transmission. Instructions have also been issued to set up coronavirus treatment facilities in small towns and rural suburbs of the districts soon. The administrative and medical machinery has also been instructed to initiate door-to-door survey across Jaipur to track, test and treat the people exhibiting COVID symptoms. This will help to nip COVID-19 in the initial stage of infection, reducing the pressure of critical cases on the healthcare infrastructure.

The dynamic rise of COVID-19 cases in Jaipur has raised several alarms across the administration. Presently, the state capital accounts for 24% of Rajasthan's total caseload. Consequently, it has emerged as the worst-affected region of the desert state with the highest number of tally and toll.

While recovery boomed up to 4,456, much higher than the fresh intake of 2,605 cases on Saturday, the high active count continues to spill trouble for Jaipur. As of now, the district is nursing a total of 49,595 active patients. The fatality toll has been marked at 41 deaths in the last 24 hours, extending the pandemic horrors.
