The health department in Jaipur has listed a new set of guidelines for the Jaipur Airport authorities in order to keep a check on the spread of the new variant, Omicron. Jaipur being a major tourist spot in the country stands at high risk and therefore travellers flying to and from the airport will now have to adhere to new guidelines.
Test facility, labs set up at the airport
A sample collection area, an RT-PCR testing facility and a sample processing lab, have all been set up at the airport itself. If an international traveller tests positive, their sample will immediately be sent for genome sequencing, in order to determine whether the infection is the Omicron or not.
Additionally, the health department has intensified surveillance across the state for the early identification of cases. People will be encouraged to wear masks, use hand sanitisers and ensure Covid appropriate behaviour, to minimise the risk of infection.
