Indore’s COVID-case count witnessed the highest-ever single day spike on Tuesday, with 805 fresh infections. In wake of this emergent peak of coronavirus, the District Collector has marked 8 micro-containment areas in the city to restrict public movement and consequently, the rate of transmission. As per orders, traffic will be restricted from entering these sensitive regions for one week and only medical and emergency movement will continue.

Containment zones and COVID vaccination to prevent infection rise

In view of the rapid rise of coronavirus cases in Indore, for the next 7 days, 8 prominent areas of Indore, including Vijay Nagar, Sudama Nagar, Sukhaliya, Nanda Nagar, Khajrana, Rajendra Nagar, Scheme no. 78 and Mahalaxmi Nagar will stand as small containment zones by the orders of District Collector. Movement in these regions will be monitored by designated health teams to curb the wild spread of the deadly virus.

Indore also wrapped up the free vaccination camp seated at the District Court on Tuesday. As per reports, more than 1900 lawyers and their relatives were vaccinated here. The organising ad-hoc committee has also arranged for free RT-PCR COVID tests for the lawyers, informed a committee associate. He also shared that over 500 lawyers have taken advantage of the same.

Additionally, the health department is considering to ramp-up the number of vaccination sites in Indore. As per this plan, each municipal ward in the district will have at least one session of COVID-19 vaccination in the coming days. This will look after the vaccination of pending frontline workers or the second phase beneficiaries. These new sites will help the district achieve the target of vaccinating 10 lakh people s – both initial and booster doses, in the next four months.
