The coronavirus infection graph has started to chart a downward trajectory in Lucknow, harnessing respite in UP’s worst-hit region. Marking the 10th consecutive day of virus plunge in the city, around 502 fresh cases were reported on Tuesday. Besides this low rate of spread and transmission, an increased recovery rate is also propelling the pandemic relief in Lucknow. Since the beginning of May, the number of recoveries have outpaced the number of new infections, effectively arresting an active case spike here.
Lucknow crosses the second wave of infection
Lucknow has clocked in steady healing trends over the last few weeks, suggesting that it has well crossed the peak of the second wave of COVID-19 infection. However, the state administration and district authorities are not in the favour of withdrawing any restrictions or curbs, lest another spike. As per reports, stringent curbs and protocols have been reimposed in Lucknow and other districts in UP to sustain control over the highly sensitive pandemic situation here.
From increased tracking, testing and treatment to expansive vaccination drives, the battle against COVID-19 is being fought on a war footing across Uttar Pradesh. Special provisions and COVID teams have also been devised for the benefit of the people living in rural suburbs and remote areas in the state. This has helped to monitor the growth of infection in a thorough and systematic manner, progressing the overall rate of recovery in UP.
In absolute numbers, the state’s recovery stands at 14, 83,249 discharges, since the outbreak of the pandemic. Capital Lucknow supports the maximum number of this share and in the last 24 hours, around 1459 recoveries were logged in at the district. As yet, over 2,23,575 people have successfully defeated the pandemic peril in Lucknow. The death toll on the other hand stands at 2,287 with the addition of 19 virus-related fatalities on Tuesday.
