With the objective of enhancing opportunities and expanding the horizons for regional cricket players, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), in collaboration with its esteemed stakeholders, is poised to organise an exclusive state-based cricketing league, UPT20.
The maiden edition of this league is scheduled to commence on August 30, with the renowned Green Park Stadium in Kanpur chosen as the prestigious venue for the matches. The league is set to continue till September 16.
A total of 6 city teams to compete during the first edition
The trophy for the inaugural season of this momentous league was revealed this Sunday. In addition, former Indian Team player Suresh Raina has been chosen as the brand ambassador for the UPT20 league.
In all, a total of 6 teams, including Gorakhpur Lions, Kanpur Superstars, Kashi Rudras, Lucknow Falcons, Meerut Mavericks, and Noida Super Kings, will compete in the first edition of UPT20.
Cricket holds immense popularity in Uttar Pradesh, with numerous emerging players who have the potential to excel. The league’s organizing committee, collaborating with cricket experts and stakeholders, has designed this exclusive T20 league with precision. Furthermore, it aims to cultivate young talents and provide a distinctive platform for seasoned players to showcase their abilities.
