Jackal menace in Jankipur; Carnivore hunts down six goats

After the recent man-eater wolf pack attacks in Bahraich, another incident has raised alarms in Lucknow’s Jankipuram Extension. Late Wednesday night, panic spread through the area after a suspected jackal killed six goats belonging to a local shepherd. Paw prints were found at the scene, and forest officials are now working to track down the predator and eliminate the threat.

Cloud cover with scattered rainfall to persist this week

Lucknow is expected to see a maximum temperature of 33.29°C and a minimum of 25.71°C for today. The city is experiencing a mix of sunlight and cloud cover, with light rainfall in some areas.

Humidity levels have dropped, bringing pleasant winds in the evening and night. Lucknow continues to face poor air quality despite the cloudy skies as the AQI reaches a troubling 248.

Temporary Vande Bharat between Lucknow-Chhapra

For the first time in India, a Vande Bharat train will be operated temporarily to meet the surge in passenger demand during the festive season. The Indian Railways has announced a special Vande Bharat Express between Lucknow and Chhapra in Bihar, running for 13 days from Oct 25 to Nov 8. The train will feature eight coaches and will make halts at important locations including Suraimanpur, Ballia, Ghazipur City, Varanasi Junction and Sultanpur Junction.

Lucknow brims with Pujo spirit as Pandals open across the city

With Mahashashti, the sixth day of Navratri, celebrated yesterday, Durga Pujo pandals across the city opened for public viewing. This day marks the unveiling of the idols and the official start of Durga Pujo celebrations.

As Maha Ashtami, the eighth day of Navratri is observed today, pandals are expected to witness large crowds, cultural performances, and traditional rituals like the Dhunuchi dance, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

Lucknow struggles with dengue outbreak, 54 new cases recorded in 24 hrs

Lucknow is now struggling with increasing number of dengue and malaria cases. On Wednesday, 54 new dengue cases were reported, with the highest numbers in areas like Indiranagar (7), Chandernagar (8), and Aliganj (8). Other affected areas include Red Cross, Tudiaganj, Sarojininagar, and Chinhat with 4 cases each.

Authorities inspected 1,457 homes and issued notices to 8 where dengue larvae were found. LMC is further carrying out fogging in most of the areas to mitigate the outbreak.
