Back in 2016, the state government had flagged off the setting up of a CCTV network was across Mumbai. Last year, the administration also decided to expand these provisions in a bid to reduce crimes around the city. These cameras look over the slums, arterial roads, by-lanes and the coast of Mumbai, thus increasing the city's security quotient by leaps and bounds. Now, to amp up the safety measures, cameras have been installed at the Chapel Road, in Bandra West.
What's The Update?
The authorities have installed security cameras near the Salt Water Cafe at Chapel Road and this move took place on the night of 14th September. Although this move was much-needed for the welfare of the residents here, the citizens were a bit perturbed regarding the time of the installation. This project work took place at around 1:30 AM, which disrupted the sleep of many in the locale. Furthermore, the BMC is also planning on increasing the number of CCTV cameras in the city, to monitor the traffic in a better way and to spot violations immediately.
These cameras are going to assist the police to solve grievances in an effective manner and it is truly a welcome move. The authorities are doing their best to come up with solutions for our issues and we as responsible citizens, need to cooperate as well.
