After the successful implementation of beautification program, Indore Municipal Corporation has now geared up efforts for a new initiative, aimed at fueling green revamps for slums across the city. As per reports, the civic body has earmarked 29 slums which will be transformed into greener localities under this project. Reportedly, plantation drives will be undertaken over open areas of and the locals will be encouraged to participate in this program.
Seeds of vegetable & fruit bearing trees to be made available for citizens

According to reports, the corporation has planned to plant around 10,000 saplings. In addition to this, the civic body will provide more than 1000 seeds of vegetable and fruit bearing plants to the local residents, prompting them to take part in the scheme. As per reports, Indore Muncipal Corporation will cover the slum dwellings of Indira Ekta Nagar, Diamond Colony, Khajrana, Aerodrome, Sanwer Road, Bengali, Ahirkhedi, Gandhi Nagar, Hawa Bangla and other areas under the first phase.
Besides fruit bearing plants, saplings of ornamental trees are also being planted as a part of this project. Reportedly, the Municipal Commissioner stated the latest scheme has been rolled out under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Once the interventions are executed, Indore will have extended areas under green cover.

As per reports, the authority asserted that the seeds, plants and saplings will be sourced from the nurseries managed by IMC. This would help in streamlined implementation of the project without leading to any financial burden. Additionally, IMC has received the support of NGOs and welfare organisations in the city, which are undertaking activities to spread awareness amongst the residents of the slums.
