The Indore District Administration on Monday, imposed limiting capacities at all public events in the city, including weddings, social/cultural/religious events to a count of 250. This decision has stemmed from the high rise in coronavirus cases in Indore which clocked 586 cases, highest single-day tally on Monday. Besides, introducing the guest limit, the administration has also made it compulsory for the event organisers to inform the nearest police station regarding the gathering, in case of contact tracing.
Indore builds defence against COVID-19
In a bid to check the rise in cases in the city, Indore Administration has re-introduced a night curfew, everyday from 10 pm to 6 am. This restriction, however, excludes essential services and factory workers in the city.
Indore has cemented its place as the worst hit district of Madhya Pradesh by reporting highest single day tallies for two days in succession. At present, city’s total infection case count stands at 38,247, highest across Madhya Pradesh, with an active load of 3,088. With 735 COVID deaths in the city, Indore’s mortality rate looms at 1.94 per cent, which is higher than the current national average of 1.46 per cent, as per an analysis of the government data.
The medical experts have further warned the city about the prolonged peak period, post the festive months of Navratri and Diwali, along with the fast approaching winters. In view of the anticipated rise till December 15, Indore Administration has proactively established protocols, to curb/reduce the impact.
