Remember when we used to roll on the floor, begging our parents to take us to Hathi park or Nimbu park? And that joy of actually being there and enjoying on those swings? Oh, the blissful nostalgia!

And even with tech invasion and new developments, parks still hold a powerful relevance among Lucknowites today. They co-exist with malls and yet have a different value in the eyes of people. Numerous new parks have been introduced recently, including Asia’s biggest park, Janeshwar Mishra Park, fitness enthusiasts’ favourite Lohia park, crowd favourite Gomti Riverfront, and so on.

Gear up for some old-school fun as we take you through the parks of Lucknow and their embodiment of recreation and fun.

Begum Hazrat Mahal Park

Begum Hazrat Mahal Park, a historically significant place, is an amusement park in Lucknow. The park is known for its green cover and people like to practise yoga, jog and relax here. It is also an ideal picnic spot for kids and has numerous swings.

Where: Qaiserbagh | When: 8 AM-8 PM

Ticket Cost: ₹5

Gautam Buddha Park

Still offering paddle boating, Lucknow’s Gautam Buddha Park is known for its panoramic beauty and lush greenery.

Where: Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Iradat Nagar, Hasanganj|When: 8AM-8PM

Hathi Park in Daliganj

A renowned and long-standing tourist attraction, the Hathi park has been sheltering picnics since the very beginning. It showcases swings and rides, and statues of elephants, giving it its name.

Where: Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Daliganj | When: 10 AM-6PM

Ticket Cost: ₹2

Dilkusha Gardens

The Dilkusha Gardens, adjacent to the ASI-protected baroque style Dilkusha Kothi, is an 18th century marvel that holds the proof of Lucknowi heritage. While the kothi was a valuable part of 1857 siege of Lucknow, the beautiful gardens still attract many visitors.

Where: Neil Lines, Cantonment | When: 7 AM-8 PM

Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden

The century old Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, or Lucknow’s pride, currently is home to 463 mammals, 298 birds, and 72 reptiles. From humongous and magnificent trees to almost regal animals, the Lucknow zoo is a must-visit for all.

Where: Near Civil Hospital, Narhi, Hazratganj| When: 8AM-6PM, closed on Mondays

Globe Park

You literally have the world in front of you here! The Globe Park, as the name suggests, exhibits a huge globe with continents on it.

Where: Qaisar Bagh | When: 5 AM-10:30 PM

Janeshwar Mishra Park

The modern and lustrous Janeshwar Mishra Park offers picturesque views, boating, cycling and more. It was built in the memory of late politician Janeshwar Mishra.

Where: Gomti Nagar | When: 10 AM-9 PM

Ticket Cost: Free entry

Nimbu Park

Yet another iconic park, the Nimbu Park will take you down a memory lane, back to your good old childhood! It is a 2-minute walk from the rich historical monument Bara Imambara.

Where: Machchhi Bhavan | When: 8 AM-8 PM

Ticket Cost: Free entry

Ram Manohar Lohia Park

Located in Gomti Nagar, the park is known after the philosopher and socialist Dr Ram Manohar Lohia. It’s a popular picnic spot and encompasses an artificial lake. Maintained by LDA, the place offers instrumental music for morning visitors to enjoy.

Where: Vipin Khand, Gomti Nagar | When: 5 AM-10PM

Butler Park

Flaunting eye-pleasing and heart warming flora, the Butler Palace has been a pleasure to visit. It was also recently renovated with new vending machines and pink toilets.

Where: Qaisar Bagh, Kaiserbagh Officer’s Colony | When: 5 AM-11 PM

Ticket Cost: Free entry

Kukrail

Located 9kms away from Lucknow, the Kukrail Reserve Forest is an urban forest standing since the 1950s. It is renowned as a breeding and conservation center for more than 300 freshwater gharials!

Where: Faridi Nagar, Indira Nagar | When: 4:15 AM–5 PM

Ticket Cost: ₹150

Gomti Riverfront Park

Riverfront is the modern hang-out spot for people who want to chill amidst nature. With beautiful paths, a fascinating musical fountain and sculptures, it is a must-try.

Where: Gomti Nagar | When: 6 AM- 10PM

Ticket Cost: ₹10

Swarna Jayanti Smriti Vihar Park

Surrounded by a verdant cover, the Swarna Jayanti Park is the place for fitness lovers. It is spread wide and has elongated and round paths and running tracks, ideal for joggers.

Where: Tedhi Pulia Ring Rd, Sector 21, Indira Nagar |When: 5AM-10:30PM

Ticket Cost: ₹10

National Botanical Research Institute

Established in 1789 AD, the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) hosts all kinds of plant varieties and species. It is the first love of joggers and ideal for walking and relaxing amidst peaceful gardens.

Where: Prem Nagar, Hazratganj | When: 9:30 AM-6 PM

Ticket Cost: ₹1

Ambedkar Memorial Park

The Ambedkar Memorial Park, is dedicated in the memory of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram and others. This is one of the parks that spread radiance and glory to the city.

Where: Gomti Nagar | When: 11 AM-9 PM

Ticket cost: ₹10

Eco Garden Park

The Eco Garden stands for the excellent craftsmen of the city. It has a plethora of bronze statues of trees and animals, water bodies incorporating stupendous stone fountains. It attracts many tourists.

Where: Ashutosh Nagar, Sector H, Alambagh | When: 6 AM-10:30PM

Ticket Cost: ₹50

Jyotiba Phule Zonal Park

Abundant greenery and resplendent flower beds, swings for kids to enjoy and a jogger’s path make Jyotiba Phule Zonal Park perfect for visitors.

Where: Sector D1, LDA Colony | When: 6 AM-10 PM
