To induce a fun way of learning among students, primary schools in UP will employ audio content developed by the Prayagraj-based English Language Teaching Institute (ELTI). The goal is to create an environment which is rich with learning, but is also interesting for children.
The content, comprising short stories, rhymes, and music, is rich in both information and entertainment. It aims at assisting students in gaining a command over English language with ease by making them have fun while learning English language and simultaneously imbibe morals and values.

The 5-10 minute-long audios also include classical stories like Panchatantra, Hitopadesha and more such folklores.
“Language is acquired from environment and since English is not part of our natural language environment, its acquisition is difficult for children. To give an everyday example – we find small children repeating advertisement jingles or nursery rhymes even though they do not understand the words and with time the words being repeated become part of their vocabulary,” ELTI principal Skand Shukla explained the purpose behind the move.
Created by a team of Allahabad University academics and retired teachers of Prayagraj’s St Mary’s School, about 90% of the audio content has been prepped so far. It is expected to be streamed on ELTI’s YouTube channel, by the end of the month, from where educators at UP primary schools can download and utilise the content.
