In a bid to bolster the health infrastructure to shoulder the expected ‘third wave’ rise of coronavirus, a special 100-bed COVID care facility will be set up in Indore. According to experts, the successive surge of the pandemic is likely to cause increased infection in children and thus, paediatric treatment provisions are underway to minimise its impact. Officials have informed that the new facility in Indore will be built to accommodate one member of the family along with the infected child, during the course of treatment.
Dedicated COVID care centre for children
Indore’s administration has launched several preparations to avert the crisis of infection rise during the third wave of coronavirus. Under the umbrella of these initiatives, a state minister on Monday shared the administration’s plan to establish dedicated care centres for treating coronavirus in children. As per reports, the decision was finalised after a review meeting of the District Collector, a state minister and other relevant dignitaries at the Radha Soami COVID facility.
Besides advanced treatment equipment and the availability of 100 beds, these pediatric units will also make arrangements for the entertainment of children. This and several other measures will be undertaken to ensure that COVID-19 fear does not affect the kids’ mental health.
The downward slope of infection graph in Indore
On Monday, the COVID infection graph in Indore plunged a further dip, to record 773 fresh cases. Recovery has been pegged at 92.3% in the district and 602 patients defeated the virus in the last 24 hours. The death toll was raised to a cumulative 1,312 with 5 virus-related fatalities on May 24. At present, Indore is dealing with 9,850 active cases, the highest in Madhya Pradesh.
