The second wave of the coronavirus contagion has sent the entire country in a state of turmoil and Indore remains to be one of the many hard-hit regions. On Sunday, India’s cleanest city registered a count of 1,826 new COVID detections, taking the cumulative tally of infected individuals over an unnerving 1 lakh mark. Currently, the city is witnessing the highest count of active cases in Madhya Pradesh, standing at 12,484.

After observing controlled infection rates in the first three months of 2020, the COVID cases started escalating since the end of March in Indore. While the count of daily detections broke all records on Sunday, it is hard to predict if the chain of infections would break anytime soon. As of now, a cumulative count of 1,01,751 individuals in Indore have been affected by the pandemic and the death toll towers over 1,099, both figures being the highest amongst all districts in the state.
On the positive side, 1,956 recoveries were marked on Sunday which acted towards controlling the number of active patients. Taking cognisance of the present circumstances, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to control the spread of the pandemic. Additionally, the medical and healthcare amenities in the city are being amplified in the city besides increasing the frequency and reach of the COVID immunisation drives.
More than 7 lakh vaccine jabs administered to the Indore residents so far!
As per records, 7,18,550 doses of the COVID vaccine have been given to the citizens in Indore so far. While the city administration and the health officials have been committed to ensuring a hastened process of immunisation, measures in this regard are being amplified now. Though inoculation is definitely the most required step, the citizens have to be aware and responsible about adhering to the guidelines and protocols, if the pandemic has to be controlled in time.
