An initiative by the local administration, these groups will help in the resolution of the escalating crisis in the city and implement programs for reducing the spread of contamination. These ward rooms constituted at all regions within Indore Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction shall primarily aid in the process of timely interventions.
Local-level bodies to maintain a strict and vigilant watch
Reportedly, the administration has formed ward-level disaster management committees at all Nagar Panchayats and regional units under IMC. Besides managing the disbursement of medicines and accelerating the inoculation drives, the officials at these bodies will also acquaint the district disaster management team about the actual situation from time to time.
Being one of the most proactive civic bodies, the Indore Municipal Corporation has undertaken a list of projects to block the chain of infections. Through regular monitoring of vulnerable areas and focused sanitisation drives, the organisation has made sure that it deploys all possible steps for controlling the contagion. With the establishment of localised ward rooms, the responsibilities will be divided leading to a better enforcement of all the needed actions.

With the addition of 1,559 new COVID cases, the cumulative count of infected people surged up higher, standing at 1,34,843 on Friday. On the positive side, 2,512 recoveries were marked in the city on the same day, which pushed the active tallies downwards to a count of 17,105.
