In order to upgrade facilities for bus commuters, authorities in Rajasthan are developing a master plan to revamp the bus stops and stations in the state. As per reports, all properties and centres of Rajasthan Roadways including depots and bus stands shall be refurbished on the lines of a modern and advanced complex. Through the interventions proposed as a part of this project, these establishments will receive a facelift in an organised and well-planned manner.
Retired civil engineers to assist in the revamping program
This project comes with an objective to amplify the amenities available for passengers and increase the ease and comfort of their journeys. Reportedly, the officials of Rajasthan Roadways recently took part in a meeting to prepare the aforesaid master plan. This meeting was marked by the presence of the Chief Managing Director of the organisation, departmental heads, zonal and regional officials amongst other attendees. After detailed deliberations over the subject, it was decided to upscale the Rajasthan Roadways complexes through a targeted initiative.
Reportedly, Rajasthan Roadways has 56 depots, 97 bus stands and a total of 136 properties spread in different parts of the state. Situated close to historical and other tourist spots, these centres cater to a large count of travellers. Now, they will be redeveloped to encapsulate additional facilities like canteens and other shops. As per reports, retired civil engineers shall be roped in to prepare the underlying framework and it shall be executed once the central authority approves.
Three-way benefits expected from the redevelopment project
According to reports, the CMD informed that the entire land circumscribed in roadways campuses is not being put to fruitful use. Thereby, the current project seeks to enhance revenue by leasing this vacant land to shops, offices, banks and food plazas, amid other things. Additionally, this shall also be conducive to a boom in employment opportunities. Thus, the plans attempt to reap three-way benefits in terms of expanding facilities for commuters, increasing revenue for Rajasthan Roadways and providing new employment avenues.
