The first day of the year kept the Rajasthan health department officials on their toes as preparations for the dry run of the COVID-19 vaccine in the state, commenced in full swing. On Saturday, the concerned department conducted a trial of the vaccine at 19 centres in 7 districts of the state, as per the Centre’s immunization protocol. The complete process of COVID-19 vaccination was followed but without the involvement of any real anti-corona shot.
20,000 health workers in Ajmer to be immunized in the 1st phase
According to an official, during the dry run, the support staff for the inoculation were trained, which has now made the state ready for the real vaccination procedure. The Health Secretary has also taken feedback from the 19 sites where the vaccination activity took place, which includes 3 centres in Jaipur. The drill was carried out with the primary focus on assessing the preparedness for the vaccination, as per the issued guidelines and end-to-end testing of Co-Win, which is a software launched by the Centre for COVID-19 vaccination.
The CMHO of Ajmer, Dr K K Soni, stated that in the first phase, the vaccine will be accorded to frontline health workers and about 20,000 health workers in Ajmer, will be on the receiving end of it. Soni further mentioned that the vaccination will be done in an interval of 42 days and a message received on the mobile phone needs to be shown for the second vaccination.
The final vaccination sites will have separate entry and exit points and while here, the recipients need to maintain physical distancing. Moreover, the health department has even made arrangements for an anaphylaxis kit, which would be used in emergency situations in case there is a side-effect following the immunization.
