In a bid to accelerate the COVID vaccination drive in Indore, the district administration on Tuesday launched the drive-in vaccination facility for people over 45 years of age. People in this category can now get the COVID jabs conveniently, without having to leave their cars or two-wheelers. Managed by the Health Department and the local administration, the service will be available for 6 days a week, from 9 AM to 5 PM, in every Vidhan Sabha. The provision of on-the-spot registration has also ben made available at these places.
Taking Indore’s COVID vaccination programme, up a notch
The Indore Administration has opened drive-in vaccination centres in the district to ease and elevate its coronavirus vaccination programme. As per officials, the availability of the COVID jab has been enhanced by means of drive-in centres in each Vidhan Sabha and any beneficiary over 45 years of age can avail of the service.
This will also boost vaccination among the elderly citizens who are not able to walk due to old age or medical conditions. All people can get the jab without moving out of their vehicles as the process lasts for a maximum of 2-3 minutes.
The Indore Municipal Corporation Minister further informed about the arrangement of two different lanes for 4-wheelers and 2 -wheeler vehicles at the centres. People coming in cars can sit in the car during the 30-minute observation period after the injection, while those in two-wheelers can rest in the sheds here.
Indore’s scaling COVID testing potential
Additionally, these facilities have also been equipped to double up as COVID testing units. Officials stated that each such centres samples about 10,000 people daily, which accounts for the highest testing potential in Madhya Pradesh. Reportedly, coronavirus testing amenity is also available at other vaccination centres in different wards at cheaper rates.
An RT-PCR test costs about ₹600, while a COVID-19 profile test has been marked at ₹1300 only. Similarly, CBC CRP blood tests are being conducted for ₹300 and other blood type tests have also been regulated accordingly.
All 85 wards of the Indore district now have COVID testing facilities. The Municipal Corporation Minister informed that all private laboratories in the city have been directed to perform blood-related tests at a low rate. Schools too will be inducted as part of the district testing machinery, the Minister informed.
